THE OPPORTUNITY
As Production Manager for our Capital Projects division you will ensure the safe management and coordination of the day-to-day production activities at our Tomago site, which include the design and manufacture of long wall systems, substations, distribution control boxes, switchboards, power factor correction systems and other HV electrical distribution systems.
As a key member of the Capital Projects leadership team, you will be responsible for achieving production schedules, staffing, maintaining plant and equipment, WIP inventory control, capability development, quality control, manufacture, testing and finalisation with the engineering team.
This opportunity is initially commencing as a 12 month contract.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Managing the electrical, mechanical and fabrication production teams during a strong growth period, your key focus will be to:
- Ensure an impeccable standard of WHS performance in the workshops;
- Manage the production process, supervisors and workforce to build products to the designs and quality standards on time;
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, targeting being safer, better, faster and cheaper everyday;
- Review and implement company standards appropriate to manufacturing and drive synergies across the production process including ensuring all workshop plant, equipment and infrastructures are well maintained and being aware of any facility or infrastructure issues.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Your passion for driving performance in a manufacturing environment will be complemented by:
- Trade qualifications (electrical preferred) (Degree level qualifications in business, supply chain, operations, engineering or similar are desirable);
- Previous experience managing a group of people in a manufacturing environment to achieve business outcomes;
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills – including internal, customer and supplier relationships;
- Demonstrated experience in resolving problems – both technical and people management issues;
- Experience in developing and driving business improvements in a manufacturing environment.
