About the role

General Requirements

We are seeking various qualified maritime professionals with backgrounds in Operations, Technical, Contractual or Safety Management. Ideally you will have an understanding of the Harbour Towage industry and Port Operations, and a willingness to live in the Pilbara. Positions are NON FIFO, you must be residential to the Pilbara area only including Karratha and Port Hedland or a willingness to relocate if successful.

  • Leading by example and ensuring colleagues are fully conversant with safety procedures, guidelines and expectations.
  • To actively promote the guiding principles and values of the company to all stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Ensuring adherence to all legislative, customer and safety standards and procedures.
  • Ensuring the necessary communication and leadership to create and maintain an engaging workplace.

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience as a leader in the Maritime Industry with a minimum of (5) years at a management or leadership level.
  • Knowledge of AS/NZS 4801, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 and with Internal and Lead Auditor Qualifications.
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Working knowledge of Legislation including Workplace Harmonisation Act, Mines Act, National System for Domestic Commercial Vessel Safety and International Standard for the Safe Management and Operation of Ships (ISM Code) and Lloyd's classification. 
  • Comprehensive experience with integrating and complying with Client Safety Standards and other requirements.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills. Able to operate effectively at all levels of the organisation to develop, communicate, direct and gain support for the implementation of strategies and plans targeted at maintaining and improving safety performance.
  • Well-developed organisational and administrative skills, including attention to detail and the ability to prioritise and control own workload.
  • Change management experience and ability to implement effectively.
  • Able to use Microsoft word, Excel and PowerPoint effectively.
  • C Class Drivers License Essential.
