Our client, a leading innovative manufacturer within the Building sector are looking to recruit a Design & Color consultant to their Victorian team, based in the South East suburbs of Melbourne.
  
This position exists to provide design selling capability to the Building Market sales effort within the residential building segment, so as expand and deepen downstream reach & influence.
  
The role is responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive understanding of current and emerging design trends to support Residential Builder sales teams in achieving and maintaining customer growth and identify opportunities for future product development.
  
The position will also provide Sales support including involvement in the sales planning, developing design and/or colour solutions to influence product selection and support the use of the client’s products.
  
The successful candidate will be responsible for;
  

• Growing the use of the client’s products by targeting Building Designers/Architects and Colour Consultants within, or working with, residential volume home builders (including builder design team teams in large/mega builders and general managers in small to medium builders).
• Working with the function to deliver continuous improvement outcomes and solutions that create a point of difference both technically and visually by developing a deep understanding of key decision makers and influences.
• Working to build and maintain in-depth knowledge of the local and international design trends and developments in residential detached and semi – detached housing.
• Continuously researching, developing and maintaining a thorough understanding of target customers including:
  • - Current design trends and influences.
  • - Preferred materials for aesthetic features e.g. cladding, paint finishes, etc.
  • - Colour and design capability.
  • - Key decision makers and design drivers within builder design teams (internal or external).
• Proposing, facilitating and following through to conclusion potential design solutions tailored to individual customers (liaising/collaborating with builder design teams/consultants and key decision makers).
• Supporting the planning and implementation of new product introductions including assisting in the development and presenting proposals to design managers to generate specifications, in addition to providing training for builder sales representatives and colour consultants.
• Provide colour consultations for consumers at the premises of target small-medium builders including but not limited to use of the Discovery Van.
• Supporting the planning and implementation of new product introductions, including providing training for builder sales representatives and colour consultants.
• Meet all legislative and Regulatory requirements which relate to this position.

    
The ideal candidate would ideally be;
  

• Exposure to a residential volume building environment preferably in Sydney and/or Melbourne.
• Demonstrated skills and experience in consulting and influencing colour, design and building material choices within the residential home building segment
• Proven experience in collaborating with sales and business development teams to develop and execute customer specific strategies.
• A qualification (certificate, diploma, associate degree, degree) in Residential Drafting or Building and Design or similar.
• Business development sales experience beneficial
