Airnorth, part of the Bristow group is now the major aviation operator in Northern Australia. The company operates over 200 scheduled RPT and charter departures weekly, to over 20 destinations in Australia and abroad. In addition to scheduled departures, Airnorth operates contract and ad-hoc charter services for a wide variety of companies undertaking mining, defence and government activity.

The Cabin Crew Supervisor supports the Manager Inflight Services in administration and leadership of the Cabin Crew team.  You will utilise your technical skills and knowledge to support line operations and the Inflight Services department, as well as your non-technical skills to mentor, support and supervise Cabin Crew.  As part of the Cabin Crew leadership team you will play a key role in setting the standards, culture and expectations of Cabin Crew and ensuring Airnorth remains Australia’s premier regional airline.

The role requires reasonable flexibility to meet operational and business requirements, and may require on-call availability from time to time.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the Manager Inflight Services as required, and act in the role during absences;
  • Coordinate and perform recruitment, induction, promotion and development activities;
  • Supervise, mentor and support cabin crew members;
  • Engage, inform and motivate staff through effective written and oral communication;
  • Ensure safe, secure and compliant cabin crew operations are conducted, taking a pro-active approach to identify and mitigate risks;
  • Embrace “Target Zero” and company safety ethos, initiatives and programs;
  • Actively contribute to departmental Risk Register and support management in mitigating risks;
  • Ensure timely closure of investigations, findings and other reports assigned to role;
  • Maintain knowledge of current regulatory and industrial requirements and upcoming changes;
  • Maintain a close working relationship with regulatory post-holders to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements;
  • Develop, coordinate and maintain in-flight service standards through line surveillance.
  • Provide technical expertise and input into development of policies and procedures;
  • Develop and revise departmental manuals and documentation, ensuring alignment with other stakeholders;
  • In consultation with the Cabin Crew Training Supervisor, develop procedures and standards for cabin crew operations for delivery by the training team;
  • Identify areas of improvement or opportunity in customer handling, service and product;
  • Assist with catering and supplier liaison, including resolution of product quality or service issues;
  • Consider strategies to improve on-time performance, operational efficiency, quality and safety;
  • Monitor line operations and proactively analyse feedback from trip reports, ensuring action or escalation as required;
  • Assist Network Operations staff with roster changes and operational issues related to cabin crew;
  • Coordinate uniform requests;
  • Maintain high grooming and uniform standards for self and cabin crew;
  • Ensure cabin crew rosters are prepared in a timely manner and compliant with regulatory, industrial and company rules;
  • Perform cabin crew personnel administration tasks including purchase orders, invoice reconciliation, travel, payroll, leave, crew records, etc;
  • Attend meetings, produce reports and address other managerial tasks as required;
  • Perform any cabin crew duties as required, including training and checking duties if applicable;

Applicants possessing the following will be highly regarded:

  • Experience as cabin crew;
  • Experience in customer service and/or airline operations;
  • Experience in supervising or leading a team;
  • Ability to motivate and support staff;
  • Ability to plan and prioritise work;
  • Ability to negotiate, influence and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Understanding of departmental KPIs and staff performance management principles;
  • Demonstrated verbal and written presentation skills;
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to develop, document and promulgate policies and procedures;
  • Ability to hold an Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC);
  • Ability to hold operational cabin crew status (eg Responsible Service Alcohol, First Aid, Passport);
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CASA CA0 20.11 Instructor and Certification approval.
