About the role
This role is responsible for the day to day activities of Swire Logistical activity in Australia. This role will include data entry, stock control/monitoring, arrangement of container repositioning, liaising with service providers, administering of Maintenance and repair of containers, direct assistance and support to the Logistics Supervisor in Australia, coverage of team tasks during absences.
Some of the key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Maintain the container tracking database with all container movements.
- Maintain regular liaison with depots in relation to FIFO, stock control, repair and maintenance.
- Regular follow up of empty container overdue and resolution.
- Proactive management of vendors across area of responsibility.
- Regular liaison with the Customer Service, Cargo Management and Imports teams to ensure data accuracy and timeliness of system updates.
- Regular liaison with commercial teams and review of export forecast and accuracy of the same to ensure we maintain a sufficient level of stock and actively work to reduce any surplus.
- Maximise use of Oneway opportunities.
- Efficient and timely processing of procurement items in SAP.
Skills / experience required:
- Preferably a University Degree in Logistics or similar and/or exceptional grades at HSC level
- Minimum 3 years shipping experience and/or relevant logistics experience an advantage
- Proactiveness and willingness to push boundaries.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good people and presentation skills
- High level proficiency in IT office applications; specifically MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook
- High attention to detail a must
- Experience in basic M&R functions preferred
- Team orientated
