A division of a major manufacturing group has an excellent opportunity for a Purchasing Officer dealing with chemical/pharma raw materials. 
 
The role involves:
  • Ensuring timely and accurate entry of Sales Orders and Forecasts into the SAP system and raising purchasing orders
  • Ensuring timely arrival of purchased materials to meet Production scheduling
  • Ensuring Inventory levels are managed, reported on and are maintained within agreed target levels
  • Following up local and overseas suppliers and obtaining quotes
  • Ensuring customer queries and requests are addressed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintaining system Planning Data accuracy
  • Monitoring of outstanding Sales Orders and Purchase Orders
  • Producing adhoc Inventory or Run Out plan reports
 
As this role will also involve directly liaising with clients to confirm order details and to update them with delivery timelines of their orders, strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.  Our client will be very interested in your skills and experience in the following areas:
 
  • Raw material Chemicals both powder and liquid products
  • ERP/MRP skills in (SAP experience preferred)
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Some exposure to inventory management would be an advantage
  • Organised and coordinated approach to all tasks, with the ability to perform effectively under pressure and be able to multi task
  • Good numerical skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to demonstrate Initiative
  • Time management skills are crucial
  • Reliable and have the ability to work flexible hours when required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as this role will require you to be a key liaison across a number of different business units
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
