About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Safety Co-ordinator to join our highly motivated team. Based in Mangalore in regional Victoria, this role is responsible for Safety, Security and System Compliance both locally and across the region. Our logistics business provides storage, maintenance and distribution services to the Australian Defence Force in an ongoing contractual agreement.
This highly sought after role will provide you with the opportunity to make a real difference across the depots. Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will be primarily responsible for promoting a positive safety and security culture that is compliant with regulatory authorities. You will have experience in providing guidance and counsel to staff as well as advising your peers and managers on Safety and Security issues. The role also provides administrative support to ensure depot compliance, giving a high level of responsibility to the position.
Within the logistics services business there are 17 depots throughout Australia which allows various development opportunities as we strongly believe in promoting from within where possible.
Key responsibilities:
- Implementing and administering site wide safety and security practices with the intent of preventing or minimising risk and hazard exposures
- Coordinating return to work and rehabilitation plans for staff within the region
- Conducting safety and security risk assessments and review and implement control measures
- Conducting investigations into safety and security breaches and report findings to management
- Ensuring regional compliance with all Commonwealth & State legislative requirements and maintain all government required licences
- Coordinating and delivering regional training programs
Key skills and experience:
- Formal qualifications in HSE/OH&S/Business and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Safety expertise working across current state and federal legislation and regulations, ideally some exposure to MHF compliance requirements
- Experience within a warehousing, stores and distribution environment would be ideal
- Risk assessment, stakeholder management, report writing, investigation and audit skills
- Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft suite of products, especially Excel
Special requirements:
You must be able to obtain a Defence Security Clearance. A medical assessment is required for this role.
