We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and passionate Driver Trainer and Safety Coordinator to join our friendly operations team in a fast paced and agile environment located at our Yennora depot and support the NSW operations teams across multiple metropolitan sites.

Reporting to the Group Manager, Health Safety and Wellbeing, you will be assessing drivers and facilitating WHS driver training programmes to help build a team of professional drivers. In assessing the drivers you will ensure that they have the knowledge and skills to meet the operational requirements of the business.

Duties / responsibilities:

  • Champion our Drive to ZERO safety leadership journey to achieve a best practice safety culture.
  • Manage day to day safety systems, currency of information and improvements.
  • Ensure all external management systems and compliance accreditations are maintained
  • Sub-contractor management
  • KPI reporting
  • Internal audit schedule completed within deadlines
  • Advice and issue resolution on all Australian WH&S and Chain of Responsibility regulatory matters.
  • Assess the knowledge and skills of new and existing drivers in a varying range of truck types;
  • Conduct assessments both on the road and at customer sites;
  • Facilitate training with new and existing drivers;
  • Planning and preparation for training, such as risk assessment processes and safe operating procedures;
  • Develop a strong understanding of all relevant contract items and be able to reinforce these through training interventions when required;
  • Maintain a professional training environment which reflects the standards of Camerons ensuring any major issues/non-conformances are immediately reported to management;
  • Work closely with the Health, Safety and Wellbeing team regarding the scheduling of training;
  • Complete detailed reports for all assessments undertaken;
  • Maintain high levels of professionalism in the workplace and develop positive relationships with internal and external staff, management and customers;
  • Attend training required to ensure Driver Assessor knowledge remains current and relevant;
  • Ensure compliance with statutory OHS&E requirements.

To be considered for this role, you must have the following qualifications, experience and attributes:

  • Transport Health and Safety professional preferred
  • A minimum 5 years’ experience in the transport safety or similar high risk industry
  • Hold a valid HC or MC Drivers Licence (essential);
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessing (essential);
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety (preferred)
  • Coaching employees on the importance of safety leadership and culture in delivering improved safety performance
  • Strong attention to detail and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to communicate to all levels
  • Willingness to travel
  • Be a self-starter and have the ability to work unsupervised;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Good computer skills;
  • Experience working in an operational Transport & Logistics business;
