The Role

We are seeking an Ocean Import Forwarding Supervisor to join our busy team in Sydney.

Position Summary:

  • Support existing and new products and services to reduce costs and to increase profitability of the department.
  • Directing, monitoring and managing activities of the staff and import functions.
  • Supervising the day to day operations.
  • Handling queries from customers and overseas offices.
  • Liaising with warehouse and transport on incoming ocean freight and deliveries.
  • Implementing of new customers and working together with Sales and Customer Service
  • Working with the Ocean Freight Manager to develop strategies and activities to support existing systems and processes.


Departmental/Operational key Responsibilities may include:

  • Manage performance of team/individuals.
  • Develop effective relationships with internal/external client base.
  • Produce KPI reports to ensure that all data is entered correctly into relevant systems.
  • Produce costing reports from relevant systems and action discrepancies.
  • Ensure timely shipment registration.
  • Monitor electronic customs reports to ensure these are done in a timely manner; advise origin offices if data is not received on time.
  • Ensure mandatory events are complete and timely.
  • Maintain industry and relevant legislative knowledge.


Competencies and Skills required:

  • Previous experience in the Freight Forwarding industry in a similar role for 5-7 years.
  • Previous experience in Customer Relationship and has excellent Customer Service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, highly service orientated.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in Hazardous Goods Handling.
  • Microsoft Office Applications - Advanced.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and authorities which impact on your area of responsibility.
  • Relationship management and influencing skills.
