The company has a range of dairy, seafood, meat and nutrition products and has established a significant position across the supply chain to improve food processing and production methods.
The dairy business continues to grow in volume and complexity with more litres of milk being procured and more tonnes of cheese being produced and sold with a growing number of products.
Position
Reporting to the General Manager, the Demand Planner – Dairy is a newly created role and will be responsible for producing sales forecasts that will be used in sales and operations planning. Continuously improving the sales forecasting processes and systems, ensuring that forecast accuracy is consistently improving and develop and manage the rules for order acceptance and forecast consumption are key aspects of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop demand forecasts at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of a demand planning function
- Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models and evaluate forecast results
- Coordinate research to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect available milk volumes, updated sales and marketing assumptions
- Interact with milk trading, sales, marketing, and finance to understand demand forecast drivers
- Provide input to the Supply Planning organisation in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs
Skills and Experience
- At least 2-3 years’ experience as a Demand Planner developing demand forecasts in a FMCG or food/dairy processing environment is essential
- Experience with supply planning
- Analytical skills with sound business acumen and experience with SRP, MRP and SAP systems
- Demonstrated history of stakeholder and relationship management
- A high level of computer literacy
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- An understanding of financial management
Qualifications
- Post-secondary qualifications in Manufacturing, Engineering or Food Processing disciplines would be desirable
