Your new company
Hays are currently working with a staircase design company - they are now looking to appoint another strong candidate in the newly created position of CAD Drafter.
Your new role
Reporting directly in to the Production and Project Manager the CAD Drafter will be responsible for the accurate drawing up of customer job specifications for the manufacture of architectural metalwork. The ability to interpret drawings, make measurements and rectify mistakes in design and drawings are a crucial aspect of the position.
Role Responsibilities:
- Interpreting site surveys and measures and attending site and design meetings if required
- Producing drawings to a satisfactory standard in 2D and 3D formats as required
- Producing fabrication drawings of each part for manufacture either internally or externally
- Producing acceptable CAD format drawings for external laser and plasma cutting
- Providing accurate take-offs of material, part and fixing requirements
- Coordinating finishing requirements such as polishing and powder coating if required, especially providing breakdown drawings
- Production of accurate set-out drawings to assist installation and positioning of items
- Generating final As-built drawing sets on completion of project for inclusion in O&M Manuals
What you'll need to succeed
Ideally you will be degree qualified in Engineering or Architecture, Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Drafting or similar tertiary qualification. Practical experience in structural steel is essential and if no tertiary training then extensive practical experience would be looked for.
