Railtrain is a specialist provider of accredited rail personnel, nationally recognised training, and Safeworking consultancy services to the Australian Rail Industry. Due to an increase in client demand, Railtrain are seeking highly safety focused people to become Protection Officers (Rail) for casual positions based around the Perth metropolitan area as well as regional Western Australia.

Position Details:

  • Casual positions (work will be on an as-required basis) working on rail projects based around Perth metropolitan & country areas
  • Providing rail protection to various work scenarios/projects as per the applicable Rail Authority Network Rules
  • Interpretation & implementation of Rail Safety Management Plans
  • Reading and understanding Job Hazard Analysis and/or Safe Work Methods for project works
  • Coordinate Pre-Start Safety Briefings, completing site safety assessments and worksite planning
  • Liaising with client Site Supervisors/Managers to ensure safety of all on-site personnel
  • Compliance with Railtrain & Rail Authority OSH obligations by adherence to Safety Legislation, regulations & applicable rail network rules
  • Effectively manage unsafe or unexpected emergency situations on site
  • Opportunity for further training to obtain relevant qualifications tickets to support job roles

 

To be considered for the position, you would be required to meet the following requirements:

  • High level of safety awareness and attention-to-detail
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead and deliver pre-start briefings
  • Availability for ad-hoc work which may include short notice shift work & emergency response
  • Willingness to undertake Rail Authority Network Rules / Protection Officer courses to achieve all required track access accreditations in your own time
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow strict legislative & regulatory requirements of high risk work environments
  • MUST have current Driver's Licence & Construction Card
  • First Aid Qualification (preferred)
  • Ability to undergo and pass a Category 1 (CAT 1) Rail Medical and regular Drug & Alcohol screening
