About the role
The successful applicant will report to the company manager and will be required to work closely with the production manager. The role will include estimation, developing new business opportunities and supply management. A background in engineering and fabrication services is required. The individual needs creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
Your role as estimator may also involve basic design work, use of MRP system and must be able to read and analyse technical fabrication drawings with minimal assistance.
The main tasks and skills required are as follows:
- Product and industry knowledge
- Organized and good time management
- Previous experience within a manufacturing workshop with trade background is preferred
- Have the ability to find product and manufacturing efficiency gains
- Manage customers and suppliers
- Monitor upcoming opportunities and maintain knowledge of competitors' operations
- Evaluate a product's cost-effectiveness or profitability
- Demonstrable communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and build strong client relationships
- Excellent computer skills (Preference given to those with previous MRP experience)
- Read plans and technical documents in order to prepare competitive estimates utilizing our MRP
- Sound ability to systematically identify different processing techniques and apply to a job process plan within our MRP
- Have a firm understand of manufacturing process workflows
