Position Objective

Summary

The CAM/HAAMC is the nominated post holder, reporting to the Accountable Manager, responsible for all of the aircraft airworthiness and maintenance control aspects of the Sharp Airlines fleet.  The Deputy CAM/HAAMC will assist the CAM/HAAMC in meeting this responsibility and in ensuring that all Sharp Airlines operations are conducted safely, compliantly and efficiently.

It is expected that the Deputy CAM/HAAMC will be nominated by Sharp Airlines and approved by CASA under CASR 1998 – Part 42 to act in the role of CAM, following a CASA interview and completion of the approval process. 

Hours of work to be negotiated with CEO.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • The Deputy CAM/HAAMC must, either personally or by delegation to staff, consultants or contractors:

  • Assist the CAM to manage the Continuing Airworthiness standards and regulatory compliance of all company aircraft to a high and professional standard.
  • Research, develop, implement and monitor the efficiency and reliability of the fleet.
  • Assist the CAM to develop, implement and maintain appropriate and compliant Continuing Airworthiness Management instructions and procedures with particular regard to Minimum Equipment Lists, CAMO Exposition, Systems of Maintenance and Approved Maintenance Programs.
  • Ensure that the Approved Maintenance Programmes for each aircraft are kept up to date with all mandatory requirements
  • Working with Approved Maintenance Organisations, ensure that all aircraft and associated aeronautical product maintenance is correctly scheduled and carried out.
  • Identify, record, and control non-conforming products and services.
  • Control of sub-contractors employed by the CAMO to assist with aircraft maintenance.
  • Investigation and reporting of defects.
  • Liaise with CASA when required re airworthiness & maintenance issues.
  • Production, management and distribution of technical data.
  • Provide an enthusiastic and positive high level of service to internal management and external customers.
  • Maintain positive & effective working relationships with staff, suppliers and CASA officers.
  • In conjunction with the CAM & CEO participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities relating to airworthiness and maintenance across the Group.
  • Co-ordinate appropriate staff training where necessary.
  • Accomplish positive results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching, counselling and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems policy and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and potential cost savings.
  • Oversee, supervise and assist when necessary to maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
  • Perform duties in a safe and healthy manner, in line with OHS & Airline Safety Regulations, and as instructed by the General Manager Safety & Quality Assurance
  • Apply the utmost confidentiality to the day-to-day activities within the department. No information relating to any audit, investigation or confidential interview (whether in person or by telephone) is to be shared with parties outside of the department unless lawfully required to do so.
  • Contribute to the overall performance of the business by achieving required results.
  • Monitor expenditure.
  • Carry out monthly reporting as required.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement strategies.

Experience

To perform this job successfully the Deputy CAM/HAAMC must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • three years’ experience in Continuing Airworthiness Management/Maintenance Control desirable.
  • type experience relevant to Fairchild SA227 Metroliner and Cessna C441 Conquest aircraft preferred. 
  • has a very sound engineering background and a very good understanding of the regulations.
  • have an excellent understanding of the organisation infrastructure requirements and strategic goals to conduct the company's operations.
  • have demonstrable leadership and interpersonal skills appropriate to the position.
  • have demonstrable experience in administrative and supervisory roles and interpersonal skills appropriate to the position.
  • thorough understanding of and commitment to team work.
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • time management and organisational skills.
  • flexibility and willingness to undertake a wide variety of tasks.
  • have a high level of computer literacy, with sound knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and Takeflite or equivalent Computerised Maintenance Management Software.
  • have the ability to multi task whilst maintaining the highest of standards.
