This opportunity is in our Caboolture Sawmill Operation, located within the beautiful Moreton Bay Region of Queensland 44 kilometres north of Brisbane, on the doorstep to Bribie Island and the sensational Sunshine Coast and Hinterland.
Reporting to the Greenmill Team Leader for AKD Softwoods, this ‘hands on’ position is responsible for efficiently and safely operating Greenmill production machines for optimum productivity, recovery and compliance with quality control systems. This involves co-operation within a team working on machine set up, operation and timber production.
The successful applicant will:
- Working effectively in a safe manner and supporting a safe working environment in accordance with legislative requirements and company policies and standards
- Operation of machinery in a safe and competent manner, as part of a larger team processing logs into sawn timber
- Inspect products or materials for conformity with established organisational standards.
- Communicate effectively with other production and site personnel
Key to your success in this role will be:
- Participate in job rotation where and when required through-out the site.
- Must be prepared to undertake further training in order to improve skills base
- Ability to work autonomously, and as an integral part of a team
- Open and honest demeanour
Role requirements:
- Forklift and chainsaw ticket (preferable, but not essential)
- Secondary schooling (year 10 minimum but preferably to year 12)
- Operational knowledge in manufacturing will be looked upon favourably, in particular the timber industry
- Basic computer skills (preferable)
- Australian Drivers License with access to regularly available and reliable transport
Please note: All successful candidates with be subject to a medical with functional capacity testing and a drug and alcohol test
This position will require shift work in the future, including the possibility of a rotating day/afternoon shift.
