Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will assume responsibility for driving best practice sharing and improving the operational performance of the business.

About the role
 

The Operations Manager is a key role within our company.  You will be responsible for driving best practice sharing and improving the operational performance of the business.

With overall responsibility  for production, scheduling , maintenance, logistics , and QA  you will ensure  optimal product quality  and maximum production efficiency. Ultimately you will be responsible for ensuring customer requirements are met in the most efficient and safe manner, and drive continuous improvement programs for all associated departments to achieve maximum output.

Duties and responsibilities:
 

  • Work closely with managers and staff across the Production, Maintenance , Quality Assurance , Procurement,  and Scheduling departments  to achieve operational objectives
  • Provide strong leadership in OH&S, financial performance and operational improvement
  • Managing both internal and external stakeholder relationships to achieve desired outcomes
  • Measure and monitor key performance indicators.
  • Develop operational improvement plan that reflect productivity and cost improvements.
  • Seek opportunities to recruit and develop people for key operational roles.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive place of work.
  • Engage with the business, customers and the community we operation in.
  • Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
  • Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviours expected of them
  • Ensure that that Management team  are trained and developed to ensure best practice , continuous improvement , and lean manufacturing
  • Empower staff members through new challenges and opportunities to grow
  • Motivate and coach the team to operational success
  • Manage the overall production budget expenditure

Skills and experience:

To be successful in the role you will possess the following personal characteristics, experience and qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification -Manufacturing/Engineering /Business  or relevant t discipline
  • Technical capability and understanding
  • 5 plus years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • A proven track record in Lean manufacturing
  • Extensive plant level experience with significant proven people management experience
  • Extensive proven experience in managing large diverse teams
  • Proven track record meeting/exceeding KPI/targets
  • Experience managing projects
  • Proven track record in organisational performance and improvement
  • Display an ability to lead continuous improvement within the manufacturing sector
  • Demonstrate a proven background in productivity improvement and the delivering of cost efficiencies;
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to manage costs across operations and capital improvement projects
  • Highly disciplined with a natural drive to set the best standards.
  • Able to effectively manage both internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully lead change and develop others.
