The role

We currently have a position for a Senior Transport Planner to join the team at our Kewdale distribution centre (DC).  Reporting to the State Transport Manager you will be responsible for developing and managing the daily transport planning process.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • strong understanding of transport industry principles, logistics and network operations
  • experience with transport routing and optimisation in a dynamic and complex supply chain
  • experience with transport planning and execution systems
  • ability to work cross functionally across DC functions
  • strong analytical, financial and business acumen with ability to deliver business outcomes
  • tertiary qualified, preferably in a logistics, engineering or quantitative discipline
  • intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills
  • ability to critically assess situations, solve problems, work effectively under stress and within deadlines

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • develop and manage the daily transport planning process that the operational DC and transport team will execute
  • work with key 3PL partners to accept/ take ownership of, and execute the transport schedules handed over, and to identify and take advantages to improve on schedules generated
  • conduct technical transportation analysis to form evidence base for continuous improvement of the transport scheduling/ optimisation and network to create opportunities to deliver transport efficiencies to achieve business outcomes of service and cost
  • develop and maintain transport KPIs and reports for internal and external stakeholders
