Public policy researcher

The Institute of Public Affairs is Australia's oldest not-for-profit think tank and is dedicated to preserving and strengthening the foundations of economic and political freedom. The IPA was founded in 1943 and is based in the Melbourne CBD. We have a young and enthusiastic team that contributes to our vibrant working environment.

We are seeking an energetic, passionate and experienced researcher for a project on industrial relations.

You will be part of a small, outcomes-driven research team supported by the Institute of Public Affairs. In this role you will help identify policy issues, produce research, engage with stakeholders, and communicate ideas through digital and traditional media.

You will have:

  • At least an undergraduate qualification in economics, law or a similar discipline
  • Experience working in academia, the public service, politics or business
  • Strong quantitative analysis skills
  • Ability to articulate and communicate evidence-backed research and proposals
  • A high degree of creativity, an independent work ethic, and an ability to do quality work in a sometimes high-paced environment

You will be:

  • Passionate about the potential for free markets and individual rights to unleash human flourishing
  • Familiar with the philosophy and work of the Institute of Public Affairs
