About the Association:
The NSW Farmers’ Association is the leading representative voice of farmers in NSW. We advocate to business and government to ensure the best possible results for farmers and rural communities.
Role Summary:
Facilitates the development, analysis and execution of policy related issues from NSW Farmers. Four broad domains of the role; research & analysis of issues related to the portfolio; strategic planning and facilitation of planning; communication & stakeholder management; as well as communication and influence and negotiation.
Role Purpose:
To manage the development of strategic industry policy recommendations; to undertake research, and implement strategies to implement industry policy; and to ensure effective communication of relevant, timely and credible information to members and key stakeholders.
Primary responsibilities:
• Develop and manage relationships with Government and non-government stakeholders;
• Manage the research, development and drafting of recommendations for industry policy;
• Oversee timely provision of agendas, minutes and secretariat to the elected Committees;
• Oversee the development of Briefing notes and other relevant communication tools to inform members and stakeholders of industry policy developed by the Association;
• Manage the policy priorities being developed by Advisory Committees;
• Initiate research on priority policy issues and other potential or emerging issues;
We are looking for:
• Someone who takes initiative
• High level research and analytical skills
• Understanding of agriculture, agribusiness and the role of the Association;
• High effective and demonstrated written and oral communication skills
• Tertiary qualifications essential in a relevant discipline; e.g. Business, Agribusiness, Ag Economics. Post-graduate qualifications desired.
This is a challenging role with opportunity to engage in the policy process at state and federal levels as well as in operational aspects of the Association.
