  • Deliver ecological and environmental management outcomes throughout Australia
  • Join a passionate and multi-disciplinary team
  • Use your data analysis to deliver complex environmental investigations

Northern Resource Consultants is a multi-disciplined environmental consultancy. With more exciting projects coming online we are expanding our team. You will work with our friendly and highly experienced Townsville team to deliver ecological and environmental management outcomes throughout Australia.

As our Environmental Scientist (Aquatic Ecologist & Water Quality Analyst) you will need the experience and skill set to confidently:

  • Clean, audit and process large environmental datasets – focusing on water and sediment quality data.
  • Deliver quantitative and qualitative data analysis such as specialist statistics, circular statistics, Bayesian modelling and mixed modelling.
  • Model ecosystem relationships.
  • Analyse and interpret the impact of changes in water quality (natural and artificial water bodies) on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
  • Calculate complex mixing regimes and evapoconcentration effects.
  • Develop specialised chemical models with a focus on water quality.

You will be required to travel to multiple projects sites throughout Australia and determine the ecological impacts resulting from water quality changes. This will involve hands on field work including the delivery of receiving environment monitoring programs and aquatic ecology impact assessments.

This is the chance to use your technical speciality to help deliver broader environmental investigations and impact assessments. You will work collaboratively with a range of other passionate, multi-disciplined environmental scientists including hydrogeologists, hydrogeochemists, soil scientists, environmental management specialists and GIS and spatial solution consultants.

Your focus will be across greenfield and existing resource projects.

You will ideally have a Masters or Doctorate degree in environmental science (with a focus across either ecology, aquatic ecology, environmental chemistry or quantitative analysis).

You will need exceptional scientific reporting skills along with demonstrated real world skills managing environmental data and databases, including the preparation of data for analysis and modelling across multiple scientific disciplines.
