About the role 

We are currently seeking applications for the roles of Operations Technicians. The Operations Technician will be multi skilled and work at our Collinsville site in the Bowen Basin on an even time roster. Camp accommodation will be provided for the duration of the working roster.

The Operations Technician will perform all tasks associated with managing on-bench blasting operations on this customer site.

The Operations Technician will provide the delivery of products and services to our customer and assist in providing a quality service of bulk explosives in a safe and environmentally conscious manner at all times. In addition, a requirement of the role will also be to operate all associated plant and equipment including an MMU in a safe and efficient manner.

What you will be doing

  • Ensuring Orica's charter value of 'Safety is our Priority Always' is consistently and strictly adhered to.
  • Operating all associated plant and equipment and managing individual shots with the utmost professionalism and skill for our important client. 
  • Ensure plant and equipment is in good order by regular inspection.
  • Ensure compliance with operating procedures.
  • Integrate customer demand with people, plant and raw materials.
  • Assist manager with defining employee training needs.
  • Maximise asset utilisation and availability.
  • Ensure products are produced in accordance with the correct manufacturing procedures 

What you bring

  • 2+ years experience operating as a full shotfirer (essential)
  • Experience in electronic blasting techniques.
  • Exposure to operating Orica's MMU or other similar blast delivery vehicle.
  • Participation in developing and implementing short term operational plans.
  • Knowledge of explosive and storage regulations.
  • Knowledge of blasting and blasting procedures.
  • QLD Shotfirers Certificate and S1, S2, S3.
  • Customer liaison, ability to act as Company Representative, ability to communicate effectively over the phone, face to face and in writing
