The Role:
In this challenging role you will be required to engage and seek stakeholder feedback within the production mining discipline in regards to water management design and scheduling. You will use your hydrology and engineering experience to develop and drive detailed production plans to ensure both internal and external stakeholders meet production targets while satisfying HSECQ requirements.

Business Accountabilities:

  • Ensure competency levels are aligned to HSECQ risks
  • Conduct visible FELT Leadership
  • Conduct Safe Act Observations (SAO’s)
  • Participate in PACT reinforcements and reviews
  • Conduct task analyses and take appropriate action to address identified risks
  • Understand cost implications in decision making
  • Liaise with a range of customers (internal and external)


Technical Accountabilities:

  • Develop pit dewatering strategies, schedules and stage plans that maintain predictable, stable levels of production performance for Production Mining, Processing and Logistics activities
  • Competently conduct rainfall-runoff analyses, statistical analyses, GIS mapping, water balance modelling, hydrological and hydraulic modelling
  • Develop mine designs and stage plans that maintain predictable, stable levels of production performance for Production
  • Mining, Processing and Logistics activities
  • Undertake flood risk assessments and prepare drainage assessments / strategies for wet season preparedness in accordance to the organisations water management strategy
  • Designing and selecting pipelines, fittings and pumps to maximise pit dewatering capability and efficiently transfer water from non-active water storages to the Concentrator to satisfy processing water supply requirements

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Environmental Science or Equivalent
  • Proven Track Record in Hydrology
  • Software Skills (SAP, Vulcan, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, XPSWMM)
  • Understanding of Grade Control
  • Thorough Understanding of Exploration Geology
  • Mining Industry Exposure
