About the role:
We are currently seeking multiple Maintenance Tradespersons at our Coppabella Mine. Our Coppabella Moorvale mine complex consists of two open-cut mine operations located approximately 140 kilometers southwest of Mackay that produce premium low-volatile pulverised coal (LV-PCI) for export markets.
An excellent opportunity is available at Coppabella Mine for experienced open-cut maintenance workers in the following areas:
- Fitters
- Boilermaker
- Auto Electricians
Roster arrangements for these roles are a mixture of 7/7 day / night rotating roster and 7/7 day shift only.
Key accountabilities
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, safe and efficient work practices, as well as Peabody Cardinal Rules and site Safety and Health Management system requirements (including risk management, SOP’s, permits, work instructions etc.).
- Prioritise and undertake specified and/or general work to the required standard and within timeframes
- Maintain a safe, clean and healthy work environment.
- Minimise production downtime
- Participate in and complete shift change, site meetings, communications or reporting requirements to the required standard.
- Actively engage in the in the Continuous Improvement Program

About Our Fitters:
- Fitters will hold a recognized Mechanical Trade Qualification.
- Open cut coal mining maintenance experience is an advantage.
- Previous experience working on field equipment (preferably within mining industry), Including but not limited to: Marion 8200 Dragline, 4100C Electric Shovel, 4100XPC Electric Shovel, CAT 6060, Hitachi 5500 and 3600 Hydraulic excavators, Liebherr T282 electric drive trucks, EH4000 Hitachi electric drive trucks and CAT 789/793 trucks, CAT D10 and D11 Dozers, Pit dewatering pumps and Cat Ancillary support machines.
- Experience with defect inspection / elimination systems and SAP work management.
- A Continuous Improvement commitment and positive attitude towards change.
- An ability to utilize a broad skill set including 24v electrical repairs, and service truck operations.
- Exposure to a rolling shift roster with a quality handover process would be advantageous.
About Our Auto Electrician:
- Open cut coal mining auto electrician experience an advantage.
- Deliver effective maintenance of heavy mobile equipment including servicing and maintenance of mobile mining equipment such as Hydraulic Excavators, Electric Drive Haul Trucks, Mechanical Drive Haul Trucks, Water Trucks, Dozers, Service trucks and other ancillary equipment.
- The ability to work unsupervised in a fast paced environment.
- Air Conditioner certification would be advantageous
- A Continuous Improvement commitment and positive attitude towards change.
