Western Plant Hire is a well-established Mining Services Contractor. We are a client focused organisation with a strong track record in the successful delivery of contracts in mining, crushing and screening and bulk handling projects.
We are seeking an experienced Field Service/Site Support Mobile Plant HD Mechanic / HD Fitter based at our Naval Base Workshop. This role is responsible for carrying out workshop and field maintenance to a variety of Mobile Mining Equipment including Komatsu and Caterpillar mobile plant. The successful candidate will be willing to work within a fast-paced and high performance environment and be available to mobilise at short notice to provide support to our hire equipment and mine site operations. The successful applicant will be a highly experienced tradesperson with extensive knowledge in fault finding, troubleshooting, remote field service and the repair and maintenance of heavy mobile plant.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide maintenance support throughout the business including metro and remote sites
- Conduct repairs and maintenance to a high standard
- Electrical and Hydraulic system diagnosis and repair
- Maintaining work areas to a high standard of housekeeping
- Developing parts lists to be ordered utilising relevant manuals and/or CAT SIS
- Development of machine defect reports with a high level of detail
- Conducting pre-task risk assessments and identifying adequate hazard control measures
- Working both autonomously and within a team environment

Essential Criteria:
- Australian recognised Trade Certificate (Heavy)
- Experience with diagnostics and fault finding on Caterpillar and Komatsu mobile plant in remote locations and workshop environments
- Ability to mobilise at short notice
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised
- Sound knowledge of CAT ET and SIS
- Commitment to safe work practices
- Australian HR driver's license
- Current Police Certificate
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screen
- Certificate II Automotive Air Conditioning and Refrigerant Handling Licence
- High Risk Licence CN, CV, RA, LF, WP advantageous
