About the opportunity

An opportunity exists for a suitably qualified and experienced Reliability Engineer to join the team at our Wagerup Refinery on an 10mth Fixed Term contract.

The Reliability Specialist is responsible for ensuring that equipment critical to Refinery performance is maintained and operated in an optimal way, allowing the Refinery to achieve its strategic business objectives.  As part of a team of reliability engineers, you will address equipment reliability issues across the entire Refinery.

Reporting to the Senior Reliability & Planning Systems Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing Engineering support in the implementation of the various Reliability Engineering systems and tools used to drive continuous improvement activities in the areas of Equipment Management and Reliability Engineering.
  • Analysis of existing equipment and maintenance performance to identify high value opportunities for improvement in equipment reliability aligned with the Refinery strategic plan.
  • Identifying and applying best practices in preventative equipment management to ensure Wagerup Refinery improves its performance relative to global competitors.

You will be required to apply reliability techniques to priority strategic improvements across site. Job involves Individual detailed analysis tasks through to team leadership with specific operation areas applying techniques such as RCA, RCM and the Alcoa Availability Workbench suite of tools.

About you

To be successful in this role and to play a part in our ongoing success you must possess a relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, with some field experience in Refining, Mining or equivalent heavy industry experience.  Ideally, you will be a self-motivator with a desire to learn, and have a sound track record in pro-active problem solving.  Previous experience in maintenance, reliability or plant engineering will also be highly regarded.

About where you will work

Wagerup Alumina Refinery is located on the border of Western Australia’s Peel and South West regions, 130 kilometres south of Perth, four kilometres north of Yarloop and 13 kilometres south of Waroona. Wagerup refinery employs approximately 620 people and of those, around 30 per cent live in the local shires of Waroona and Harvey.
