SIMEC Mining, a wholly owned subsidiary of GFG Alliance, operates out of South Australia’s Middleback Ranges in Whyalla consisting of three primary sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges (SMR). The magnetite iron ore from these sites is pelletised at our Pellet Plant and the hematite ore is loaded at our ports for export, all located within Whyalla Steelworks site in Whyalla. Whyalla is a diverse community and so is our workforce. Additionally, we have recently acquired the Tahmoor Coal Mine in NSW so our commodity portfolio expands in line with the opportunities presented by our business.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and driven Maintenance Planner to join our team. Your role will be to plan and schedule maintenance activities in line with our maintenance strategies for the IPF and Crushing & Screening plants. Managing work from approval stage to planned, resourced and assigned stage. You will process ad hoc notifications via SAP and be responsible for the procurement of parts (stock and non-stock items), materials, services, equipment and special tools required for the execution of each of the tasks. You will be interacting with the engineering, operations and maintenance execution departments to ensure alignment and optimal outcomes and use of resources.

To succeed in this role, you will be qualified in a mechanical trade or engineering field. Along with your technical task planning skills and knowledge, you will have demonstrable experience in a mechanical trades role in a heavy industrial plant or similar 24/7 production environment. You will be a good communicator and have experience in using an ERP system (preferably SAP) as well as MS Excel and Project. Understanding how you can play a part in overall team success you will also have a strong focus on safety and continuous improvement, Identifying opportunities to stream line activities, update work instructions and Bill of Materials.

This role is initially on a 12 month contract but has strong prospects of becoming a permanent position at the end of this term and lead to numerous opportunities for a long and successful career within our company.
