About DMPL and the Dargues Gold Mine
The Dargues gold project is 100% owned by Diversified Minerals and is located approximately 12km south of Braidwood, and immediately north of Majors Creek in New South Wales, Australia. The Project will develop and operate a new underground mine, processing plant, tailings storage facility, and associated infrastructure and is targeting full production in 2019 and an initial project life of 6 years.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Diversified Minerals is seeking a highly experienced General Manager to be responsible for the overall operational and financial performance of the Dargues Gold Mine during construction and into operations. Your role will be to plan, direct and control operational activities for the Dargues Gold Mine to achieve business goals around expenditure, production & profit targets as well as fostering a culture of safety, environmental best practise and community engagement.
This senior position calls for substantial and successful experience in operational roles in the underground mining industry. Tertiary qualifications in mining or a related discipline are essential as is NSW statutory underground mine manager's accreditation (or equivalent). The position will appeal to a leader with significant interpersonal strengths and with personal qualities of energy, integrity and a commitment to excellence.
This will be a permanent position, based in Majors Creek, Braidwood or the surrounding area with relocation assistance provided.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure the site operates with the highest level of safety and environmental statutory compliance
- Supervising of all aspect of the Dargues Gold Mine including planning, construction and operations
- Manage and control operational activity to achieve business targets as planned for the Dargues Gold Mine and reporting on outcomes to Directors and Steering Committee.
- Manage other key external relationships as required, including with Mining Authorities and Statutory bodies
- Establish budgets & forecasts for the operation and monitor performance against targets
- Provide leadership and maintain working relationships with contractors, suppliers, regulators and the community
- Working closely with the Construction, Processing and Mining Manager in regard to project execution and development
ABOUT YOU
- An uncompromising approach to safety and environmental management
- Tertiary qualification in mining engineering or related discipline
- Comprehensive understanding of legislative & regulatory requirements associated with operating an underground gold mine
- Extensive experience in stakeholder management/engagement
- Strong financial and commercial acumen
- Post tertiary qualifications in mine engineering and/or senior operational experience in managing a gold mine asset (Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency or equivalent preferred)
- Contractor management experience
- High level influencing and negotiation skills
- Excellent communication skills, integrity and ethical behaviour along with values that are aligned to the business
