About the business
Iron Cove Global is currently working in close liaison with a well-known gold mining organisation, assisting with critical recruiting initiatives for the company's premier operation in PNG. Due to ongoing expansion of the underground mine, this thriving gold mining business is currently in pursuit of a Mining Manager to lead all aspects of underground mining operations.
About the role
- Oversee all underground mining operations, ensuring optimum performance to meet and exceed company targets;
- Drive a safety first approach, ensuring company standards and workplace practices are adhered to;
- Play a critical role in the expansion and ongoing development of the underground mine;
- Step up in the role of Acting General Manager as required;
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the site;
- Lead, train, mentor and develop all reporting staff.

Skills and experience
- Relevant tertiary qualifications;
- Track record of success working in a similar UG operations leadership position;
- Proven success working as an expat outside of home country origin;
- Profound commitment to safety, health, environment & community practices;
- High caliber communication capability, both written and verbal;
- Intimate understanding of underground metalliferous mining operations;
- Able to work effectively in a team.
The successful applicant will have previous experience working as an expat outside of home country origin and hold success working in leadership capacity within underground mining surroundings. The role is provided on a 19/9 FIFO roster with travel taking place split on company and own time.
