Health & Safety Specialist – Contractor Management
The H&S Specialist will develop, implement, monitor and continuously improve the HSES Contractor Management System as well as be the principal point of contact for all internal and external queries relating to HSES contractor management.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Foster relationships between site health and safety teams, and contractors.
- Consult with key stakeholders on the development, implementation and maintenance of the health and safety Management System, specifically the H&S Contractor Management System.
- Provide visible health and safety leadership (lead by example) modelling positive safety behaviours to all staff.
- Advise on the deployment and sustainability of H&S Contractor Management System to reduce the operations risk profile
- Manage the audit process and audit Contractor Management Systems to ensure the system is complied with.
- Develop common standards, procedures / processes, guidelines and training materials for the effective implementation of the Contractor Health and Safety Management System,
- Assess contractor H&S management plans for compliance to FMG standards and liaise with contract owners, procurement and the contractor to communicate necessary improvements
Qualifications and skills required:
- Tertiary qualifications in health and safety or risk (desirable)
- Project Management qualification/ diploma
- 5 years’ experience in health and safety / projects in mining or related industry.
- Technically proficient safety professional with a strong understanding of MSIA & OHS Legislation and current health and safety management system practices
- Strong planning and project management skills, with the ability to create plans that are accurately resourced and scheduled to deliver on the strategy to achieve business goals and targets
- Proven capability to effectively influence, communicate and engage to build understanding, buy-in and commitment from key stakeholders
