The role:

The Gruyere gold deposit in Western Australia is one of Australia’s most exciting new gold projects.  Gold Road Resources and Gold Fields are proud to have an established 50/50 JV partnership over Gruyere. With Gold Fields as the JV manager, the team at Gruyere have hit the ground running and are working hard to achieve first gold production in early 2019.

This is an opportunity to help be a part of a world class orebody and mining operation. Here is your chance to expand on your open pit mining experience and be part of starting up the Gruyere Open Pit and set the standard for the rest of the Australia Operations.

Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you will be responsible for delivery of medium term planning and plan compliance. This is a key role in the mining department to support operational delivery, developing quality plans and working with the mining contractor to ensure execution is achieved; all while ensuring the integration of planning and production within the pit and across site. Away from the day-to-day the role will take on improvement projects and contribute to longer term planning aspects.

This role is offered on an 8 days on 6 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth. Flexibility around this roster will be required initially, details of which will be discussed with applicants who progress to the interview stage.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the strong safety culture and performance of Gold Fields and supporting our Vital Behaviours program.
  • Establish, maintain and communicate medium term mine plans & schedules.
  • Produce quality plans including coordination and consultation with all disciplines across the site.
  • Monitor execution of plans to ensure alignment with long term operational goals as well as meeting daily operational demands.
  • Contribute to problem solving within the operation to overcome operational challenges.
  • Undertake mine design of execution plans and documentation including blast masters, pit & dump designs, roads and other infrastructure.
  • Initiate and undertake improvement projects to optimise operational performance.

Key factors to your success include:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
  • WA First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency will be well regarded.
  • +5 years mining experience including technical and operational aspects of open pits.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office and mining software such as Deswik and fleet management systems.
