DSS provides high quality project development, management and implementation support to community based organisations in the Central Desert region in the areas of land management, community development and partnership brokerage. We are committed to supporting community based organisations to manage their programs and part of your role will be equipping Wiluna traditional owners with the capacity to manage the land management program over time.

The successful applicant will be required to travel and work remotely in the field for extended periods of time during the field season (e.g. 2-3 weeks per month, March to December). We are looking for a committed person to work with Wiluna traditional owners and other partners to achieve outstanding results.  Experience working with the mining and resource sector is essential.

Additional Documents to Consider:

DSS facilitates and manages the highly successful Matuwa and Kurrara Kurrara Indigenous Protected Area (IPA), the Wiluna Martu Ranger Program in partnership with Northern Star Resources Jundee mine and other associated Wiluna land management projects, under the direction of the Wiluna native title holders (see the Wiluna Facebook page for more detail). We have also just received funding to set up a new part-time Ranger Team for the Matuwa and Kurrara Kurrara IPA and a Martu Women in Science project which will complement the existing IPA and Wiluna Martu Ranger programs.

The Matuwa and Kurrara Kurrara IPA Country Management Plan sets out a strategic framework for the use and management of the IPA and surrounding Wiluna country. The plan is available on our website.

This document, along with the Wiluna Martu Ranger Program MoU and the Matuwa and Kurrara Kurrara IPA Aboriginal Ranger Project contract, will guide the operational objectives of the roles.
