About the role

BHP Billiton Iron Ore is one of the world's leading suppliers of iron ore. The Company's operations currently involve an integrated system of seven inland mines, more than 1,000 kilometres of rail and two separate port facilities; Nelson Point and Finucane Island at Port Hedland as part of our Western Australian Iron Ore (WAIO) business. We are looking for an energetic, progressive and collaborative leader to join our Maintenance leadership team as the Superintendent Fixed Plant Maintenance.

Reporting to the Manager Fixed Plant Maintenance you will

Demonstrate commitment and conformance to the BHP Billiton Charter, the BHP Billiton Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations
Demonstrate and instil an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development
Lead, coach and mentor employees to deliver on plan and build a high performing team;
Facilitate the development, implementation and maintenance of common standards including improvements to processes and systems

About You

As the successful candidate you will possess the following:

Engineering qualification at Trade, Diploma or Degree level or equivalent industry and/or organisational experience
Diploma in Frontline Management and qualifications in Six Sigma well regarded
Experience in leading and mentoring teams and an ability to provide leadership and development of supervisory staff within a maintenance, mineral processing facility, supply chain processes or heavy industry
A proven track record of safety management
Demonstrated track record of continuous improvement

In addition to leadership, you will provide the skills, knowledge and an environment to stimulate strategic thinking and problem solving around business direction. Providing you with exposure to all levels of the organisation, this role will see you develop influential relationships with multiple functions and stakeholders, including senior leadership.

Stakeholder engagement skills are a must, allowing you to build relationships across the business and to communicate with disciplines at all levels. You will be able to engage and lead a high-performing team, in order to achieve business goals, and also have the ability to identify improvement opportunities, see them delivered and manage through change.

Your technical strengths will be complemented by excellent engagement and communication skills. Proactive, credible and influential, you relate well with people, communicating confidently and building strong working relationships with key stakeholders.

A Minimum of C class manual drivers licence is a requirement for this role.

Location

You will be based at our 'Yandi' mine on a fly-in fly-out 5:2 4:3 9:5 roster. Yandi is located approximately 170kms North of Newman West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, squash, tennis and basketball courts, golf driving range, mini golf, netted cricket pitch, beach volleyball court and recreation room. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, internet, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
