The Sales Assistant position is one of The Smith Family’s highest profile roles. As a Sales Assistant you are an ambassador, interacting with the community every day. Like all Sales Assistants you will be exceptionally busy as you go about ensuring that customers have the best possible experience in your store. You’ll also be contributing to sales targets, as well as assisting with day to day tasks. You will be doing what you love, being a part of a successful store but you’ll also be part of a larger team who are making a difference every day and helping some of Australia’s most disadvantaged kids and their families.

A day in the life of a Sales Assistant might look like this:

  • Spend time helping customers to find what they are looking for;
  • Help train a new store volunteer and ensure that they understand store policies and procedures;
  • Work with the team to maintain the overall appearance of the store and re-merchandising;
  • Assist with ordering new stock;
  • Cash handling and cash register duties.

To be one of our Sales Assistants you need to be very commercial and focussed on getting results but you’ll also be proud of your role as an ambassador for us. You are passionate about the experience every single customer has in your store and you take pride in how the store looks. You can keep lots of different balls in the air at once and change your priorities at a moment’s notice. Equally important is the fact that you care, lots, about helping some of the most disadvantaged in our society.

Living up to our employment promise, our team members tell us that working for The Smith Family, they have great job flexibility and the ability to work alongside committed, passionate and professional team members whilst engaging in challenging, fulfilling and diverse work. In turn, our team members believe that they offer commitment to our vision, mission and values and effective collaboration with fellow team members to deliver strong performance outcomes.
