My client is a prominent distributor within the retail/FMCG industry. The opportunity has arisen for a category manager to manage the development of several categories. The exact category will be decided upon the persons appointment and will depend on the background and experience of the successful candidate. The company is flexible to look at several categories.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the achievement of key financial KPI's, maintaining and growing trade partner relationships, sourcing and development of the category products as well as delivering strategic initiatives in line with company objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Manage supplier relationships to achieve mutual business goals.
- Manage and optimize profitability through inventory management, supplier negotiations, product development and sourcing strategies.
- Identify opportunities across the business for additional profit and sales contributions.
- Maximize long term supply agreements for lowest cost of doing business.
- Ensure implementation of company policies, code of conduct and ethics.
Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of retail markets to identify opportunities for product. development via category management principles.
- Development of planograms to deliver improved product offer.
- Knowledge or previous experience of FMCG category management.
- Strong knowledge of the food and grocery industry.
- Exemplary negotiation skills at a senior level.
- Proven track record of category growth.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build solid working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to use your findings to implement beneficial solutions.
