About the business

Southern Queensland Country Tourism (SQCT) is the peak tourism industry body for Southern Queensland Country (SQC), including the local government areas of Southern Downs, Toowoomba, Balonne and Western Downs.

SQCT is a not-for-profit incorporated private company limited by guarantee.

We deliver a consolidated brand and marketing strategy for tourism in Southern Queensland Country by bringing together a critical mass of local businesses and stakeholders.

We are one of 13 Regional Tourism Organisations (RTOs) who form the Regional Tourism Network and are recognised and supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland. 

We enjoy strong partnerships across industry and all levels of government to develop and deliver a strong and sustainable tourism industry across the SQC region.

SQCT is responsible for driving destination marketing, industry advocacy, capacity building and destination partnerships. SQCT is the regional Destination Marketing Organisation working in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland to 'inspire the world to experience the best address on earth'.  We do this through delivering exceptional experiences in Southern Queensland Country that deliver the region's 2020 tourism vision; brand promise; and the themes that underpin the vision and brand. SQCT also has an important role in identifying and delivering industry education and capacity building opportunities to our industry.

 

About the role

The role of the Marketing Coordinator is to develop and execute integrated marketing programs in accordance with SQC brand values and strategic direction to achieve growth in consumer awareness, preference and intention to visit, conversion and ultimately increase visitor expenditure in Southern Queensland Country.

The role is also responsible for developing and delivering SQCT's digital presence through a variety of platforms including: consumer facing website, consumer EDM, social media channels and content initiatives including consumer blog.

There is plenty to do, but we work as a team, have fun and create together to achieve marketing success. In this role you will be brainstorming, creating, organising, liaising and collaborating for success on a number of marketing initiatives.

 

Primary Delegations and Responsibilities

  • This position reports directly to the Marketing Manager
  • There are no direct reports to this position
  • A core responsibility of this position is to work with other officers, government partners, and industry
  • There are financial delegations attached to this position
  • The ability to work effectively autonomously, unsupervised and in a team environment
  • Formation and management of project budgets

  • Knows what an integrated marketing campaign is and how to implement the strategy
  • Can demonstrate strong understanding and experience in digital marketing, social media and campaign execution
  • Wants a strategic and creative hands on marketing role
  • Is energetic, dedicated and experienced and not afraid of working in an ever changing dynamic industry

 

 

Skills and Experience

You Must Have…..

  • Minimum of 5 years marketing experience within the tourism industry or similar role. Sound skills in marketing principles and practices
  • Sound knowledge of the tourism industry and the various distribution channels used by consumers to determine holiday choice.
  • Attention to detail
  • Demonstrated success in coordinating and executing media campaigns including digital,  social media and creative development
  • Demonstrated CMS and web architecture experience
  • Demonstrated experience with SEM, SEO and PPC
  • Experience in managing an EDM  program including acquisition campaigns
  • Demonstrated ability to source and produce effective, innovative and relevant content for website, e-newsletters and digital channels
  • Ability to create and manage content on websites and blogs using content management system
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven relationship management experience
  • Team orientated with the ability to work autonomously
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Internet Explorer, and database management
  • Possession of a current "C" class Driver's Licence is essential
  • Must be able to travel within the region, intrastate and interstate for frequent and at times extended periods

 

Great To Have…..

  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing, tourism or related discipline
  • Understanding of consumer research and marketing trends
  • Experience planning and executing co-operative advertising initiatives
  • Content creation and distribution experience
  • Experience working in a small multi-skilled hands-on office
  • Proficiency with image and video editing software
  • Previous experience working with multiple stakeholders with diverse interests

Employment conditions

A six month probation period exists. Initially a performance appraisal will be conducted at three months and then again at six months. After which appointment will be confirmed and an annual performance review undertaken thereafter.
