Our mission is to prevent heart disease and improve the heart health and quality of life of all Australians, resulting from work in heart-health education, patient support, cardiovascular research funding, and government and industry advocacy. 

The Heart Foundation seeks to achieve its vision and mission through public fundraising that supports its programs and activities, nationally. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in Australia, but awareness of this message, particularly amongst young Australians, is low. As a result, the Heart Foundation seeks to actively identify and understand its changing demographic, articulate its purpose, increase awareness of this important message and direct the community towards valuable information resources that are available. 

The Heart Foundation is investing more than $50m over the next three years to fund cardiovascular research and support early to mid-career researchers. In addition, we deliver national programs aimed at preventing heart disease, supporting those at-risk and those living with heart disease, including their families and carers.
  
We are undergoing a major push to re-launch the brand and are focused on building a central, commercially focused, high performing marketing team to support the 2018 – 2020 strategic plan. It is for this reason that the Heart Foundation currently seeks to recruit a Senior Copywriter to develop written health focused content for a wide range of marketing channels. 

Your new role
Reporting to the Director of Brand and Creative, as an experienced Copywriter you will be responsible for turning complex clinical material into easy to read and understand consumer messages, for use across a range of mediums: brochures, newsletters, web copy, and advertising campaigns. You will be tasked with transforming the way HF engages with their target audiences and the wider community. You will also be an ambassador for the brand tone-of-voice and how it is applied to a range of health services, programs and fundraising campaigns. With a high attention to detail as an editor, you easily translate complex concepts into user-friendly, engaging copy. Working across multiple projects, using your knowledge of creative processes and copywriting you will be responsible for developing outstanding content across all digital and traditional channels.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience in a senior copywriting or journalist role, preferably in the health/ medical/ scientific sector.
  • Excellent written communication skills developing and repurposing content for different target audiences, formats and channels, underpinned by strong brand principles.
  • Conceptual thinking, ideas generation and writing for user journeys including user flows, call-to-action content for web, social, blogs, emails and campaign content requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical information into lay person’s terms.
  • Demonstrated A/B testing experience and an understanding of SEO, UX/UI
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively with staff across the organisation and with external suppliers.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of recent developments in the market – content, copy, research and technology.
  • Content development for fundraising in a purpose-driven organisation, an advantage.
