We are looking for a dedicated, talented and innovative Communications Officer to join our Media and Political Team. Reporting to the Lead Organiser of the Media and Political Team, the Communications Officer will be responsible for supporting the campaign work of the Union with graphic design, publication creation and multimedia development that empower United Voice members, share their stories and build the profile of the Union in workplaces, industries and our community.

If you are successful you will:

  • Create print and digital communications for Union members and supporters;
  • Work with organisers to plan and execute workplace, industry and community campaigns;
  • Be part of a team that is willing to try new and different ways of reaching out and communicating;
  • Assist with media and campaign events to ensure they are a success;
  • Work day to day to ensure United Voice members have a voice in their community.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience in the use of Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop in particular)
  • Demonstrated artistic and creative ability in various areas;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage workload;
  • Commitment to union values and social justice;
  • Respectful of workers and union staff in all their diversity;
  • Valid Driver's License;
  • Ability to work flexible arrangements that reflect Union members work schedules;
  • Demonstrated commitment to United Voice's values and purpose.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of social media tools and platforms;
  • Photography and Video experience;
  • Video editing and production;
  • Experience in campaigning and/or community engagement.

An attractive package is offered to the successful applicants, which includes;

  • Salary negotiable dependent on experience
  • 6 weeks annual leave;
  • 25% leave loading;
  • 12% superannuation.

This position is currently full time, but part time applications will be considered. The position will be subject to a six month probation period.
