Overview of the Role:

The desired time split for this role is as such:

  • Technical – 30%
  • Content Production and Distribution – 20%
  • Team / Account Management – 35%
  • Product Development – 15%

The main focus of this role is to ensure that client SEO targets are met and that clients are effectively communicated to.

Main Tasks Include:

  • Planning out sustainable SEO campaigns based on current industry best practice, research and client data
  • Managing clients and explaining SEO in layman's language
  • Reporting and communicating strategies and results
  • Obtaining results and keeping clients happy
  • Keeping abreast of new techniques and technologies
  • Drive growth and cross sell into client base
  • Evolve and help shape the overall SEO product

Responsibilities

SEO

  • Have a sound grasp of all aspects of SEO; technical, content, links & social
  • Keep abreast of new techniques and technologies
  • Be able to use all relevant SEO tools (Including Excel)
  • Ensure your technical knowledge continues to grow
  • Show enough creativity to produce content strategies
  • Build a network of sites that your clients can publish content to

Account Management  

  • Understand clients' goals and success metrics, marketing, seasonality, USP's, product set and competitors
  • Acquire a deep understanding of clients' websites, internal challenges, capabilities, development plans and work with Client to enhance their website/s offering
  • Hit client goals, objectives and expectations
  • Develop, manage and coordinate campaign strategies for multiple clients
  • Manage client, publishers and 3rd party agency communication flow
  • Provide suitable reporting and analysis on all campaigns
  • Analyse ongoing results to identify campaign trends and key insights to help meet and exceed client goals
  • Grow and nurture a strong relationship with all relevant contacts on the client side including senior management
  • Utilise internal tracking tools to report on pre-agreed business metrics
  • Provide client training as and when required
  • Present to clients – confidently be able to talk through; strategies, concepts, techniques and results

Strategy

  • Working with clients to devise KPI's and goals
  • Build a strategy that ensures the SEO campaign hits pre-agreed KPI's and goals
  • Follow the strategy unless it is not working in which case be able to augment it to get the campaign back on track
  • Ensure efficiencies are made by the proper use of purchased and free tools
  • Allocate clients budgets to maximise the client's return on investment

Reporting

  • Check performance on a regular basis and ensure all results are communicated with clients in an effective and timely manner
  • Ensure where available relevant financial data and ROI / ROAS is communicated back to the client
  • Ensure all client facing reports include insights, commentary and recommendations
  • Ensure the quality of work generated is of a high standard, exceeding client expectations

Product Development

  • Understand the commercial side of SEO and plan how to expand and evolve the product
  • Devise tests, analyse performance and produce conclusions to help shape the product
  • Identify and implement changes or adopt to new industry practices

Business Development

  • Work with the Business Development Manager to provide data necessary for new sales pitches
  • Help price up new clients to ensure results can be achieved
  • Attend potential client meetings as and when requested by the Business Development Manager
  • Help sell and present search to potential clients as required

Personal Specifications

Education & Qualifications

  • (Preferred) Degree in either a;
    • business, science or statistics related discipline
    • IT or computing related discipline
    • literary, language or journalism related discipline
  • GAIQ (Google Analytics Individual Qualification)

Industry Knowledge:

  • Familiar will current SEO software's & browser plug in's
  • Familiar with additional analytics' packages
  • Excel to an intermediate level (vLoop Ups, Pivot Tables, IF functions)
  • Understanding of a variety of CMS systems
  • Working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript & CSS, & an advanced understanding of server-side concepts such as PHP, ColdFusion, RoR, .Net, etc.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the Australian digital media marketplace & trends.

Experience

  • 3+ years' experience in SEO
  • Experience in outreach, link acquisition, content marketing & content creation, with proven results.
  • Client services experience (agency background is an advantage)
  • Working on well know and complex brands
