The Role
Our Business development team works alongside our partners and lawyers across our sectors, services and offices to support and develop our relationships with clients, delivering an exceptional service and exploring new avenues through which we can help them meet their business needs. Our brand, marketing and digital team help position us as thought leaders amongst our target markets in the areas we most want to be known for, by creating intuitive and engaging collateral, events and campaigns. As part of the business development team, you will play a hands-on role in contributing to the firm’s success and helping to achieve its objectives. This could be as one of our business development professionals, coaching partners on relationship building, or building our brand as one of our marketing, design or events professionals. If you’re a commercially minded individual with a passion for business development and improving the client experience in a professional services environment, you could be just what we’re looking for. Our Sydney Business Development team is seeking a full time Events Consultant on a permanent basis. This is a unique opportunity to join a high performing team in the management and successful delivery of the firms client and major staff events, with the objective to deliver expert and innovative solutions in accordance with Partner and Client Strategy objectives. Day to day, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Sole project management and delivery of client and key staff events including seminars, workshops, cocktail events, formal functions and conferences.
  • Fiscal responsibility and management of operations which includes the preparation and management of budgets for client and staff events..
  • Contractual and logistical management of suppliers/vendors for each event by having a technical understanding of what is required in addition to interacting in an assertive manner with suppliers when applicable.
  • Provide advice relating to the BD and Client Strategy program by keeping up to date with the firms client strategy and events market trends to ensure recommendations and event outcomes are supportive of desired objectives.
  • Ensure that all events and duties are carried out in compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have excellent attention to detail, exemplary communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. You will have a minimum of 2+ years’ experience in the end-to-end management and successful delivery of events, preferably within a professional services environment. Your experience will also include:

  • Proven ability to work to a client brief and defined objectives, to deliver strategically aligned events.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate with specialist suppliers around event costs and delivery.
  • Ability to identify and deliver high standards of hospitality service, with the confidence to foresee issues and address them proactively.
  • Proven ability to think ahead, and to work under pressure to meet multiple deadlines, with capacity for flexibility in working hours.
  • Prior experience with CRM (InterAction) and HTML email distribution software would be advantageous.
  • Formal event/marketing qualifications preferred.
