Prime Rentals has established branches based in Bowen, Wandoan, Brisbane, Emerald, Gladstone, Mackay, Moranbah and Rockhampton.

This position is full-time and located in the Wandoan/Chinchilla areas. Travel, after hours and on call work is required on a rotating roster. Rosters options vary upon hire point (DIDO or local). Accommodation supplied if needed during roster.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The main responsibilities of this position are to:

  • Provide workshop and on-site professional mechanical trade experience, maintenance and service to ensure equipment is in good order and is ready for hire.

TRADES TASKS

  • Perform scheduled safety inspections.
  • Perform workshop and on-site mechanical trades break-down repairs and servicing of plant and equipment.
  • Fault finding and general equipment inspections to ensure all equipment is in good working order.
  • Ordering parts and tools to ensure quality timely repairs.
  • Correct disposal of waste (ie. oil, filters, etc.) to comply with the Environmental Protection Act and company policy and procedures.
  • Ensuring the work area is maintained in a professional clean and tidy state to ensure safety.
  • Accurate completion of documentation and paperwork.
  • Co-ordinate with co-workers to schedule use of resources and assistance as needed.
  • Assist with the trade skills training and development of Trainees and Apprentices.
  • Communicate with management and provide specialist advice on plant life /end life.
  • Keep the Customer informed on maintenance and progress of repairs and ensure minimal disruption to the customer. Organising replacement machinery if required.
  • Daily contact and reporting to the Supervisor to ensure open communication.

OTHER

  • Perform other duties as requested by your Supervisor from time to time.


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL:

  • Trade qualified in a Mechanical related field (ie. Diesel Fitter, Mechanical Fitter, Auto, small motors).             
  • Current valid C-class manual drivers licence.
  • General experience with hydraulics.
  • High commitment to WH&S practices and focuses on eliminating and minimising hazards.
  • Sound administrative skills to ensure correct documentation is supplied to administration in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ability and willingness to work on customer sites alone.
  • Willingness to be on call on a rotational basis.
  • Physical strength and ability to work in awkward positions.
  • Polite personable disposition to liaise directly with the customer.
  • Willingness to undertake any job related training your Manager deems appropriate.
  • Ability to obtain customer site inductions (ie. Standard II Induction, Generic Induction, and any site specific Induction).
  • Ability to pass client job site medicals (ie. Coal Board Medical).


PREFERRED: (nice to have)

  • 5 + years post trade experience
  • Current Forklift Ticket
  • Current EWP Ticket          
  • Current HR Licence
  • Experience with maintaining elevated work platforms (ie. Genie & JLG brands)
  • Experience with general equipment (ie. generators, compressors, forklifts)
  • Construction industry White or Blue card
  • General welding experience
  • Some exposure to basic Auto Electrical
  • Diagnostic skills
  • Working at Heights ticket
  • Current First aid and CPR qualifications
