About Us

Control Systems Technology is an Australian company that manufactures and services conveyor belt weighers for various industries including mining, power stations, ports and the sugar industry. We supply and service our products both within Australia and overseas. CST is currently looking to expand our services into radiation and density testing. We are looking to employ a belt weigher service technician & Radation and density technician based in our Mackay, Qld. Branch

What you will need for Belt Weigher Technician

We are looking for people with some or all of the following:

  • Coal Board Medical
  • Standard 11 Certificate
  • White Construction Card
  • BMA Core and site inductions
  • Inductions at mine sites around Mackay & district
  • Qld Drivers Licence (manual and auto)

What you will need for Radiation & Density Technician 

As stated above plus -

  • Radiation Safety Officer Accreditation 
  • Radiation User License 

About the position

You will be doing the following as part of your normal duties:

  • Perform calibrations to ensure accuracy of weighers
  • Repairs to weighers including parts replacement and testing
  • Installation of new weighers and weigher hardware
  • Installation of weigher electronics
  • Changing conveyor belt rollers around the weigher
  • Fault Diagnosis and troubleshooting
  • Perform radiation & density testing including calibrations using specialized equipment (R&D technician only)
  • Preparing calibration reports for customers on computer (Good Word & Excel skills required)
  • Strong verbal & written skills 

Any past experience with belt weighers will be highly regarded but not essential as full training will be provided. R&D technician will require experience and accreditation plus radiation user license and willingness to teach others.

Ideally, you will have some electronic or electrical knowledge and have a mechanical aptitude. Younger applicants will be considered provided they have a good academic record including solid written English skills, maths and can demonstrate an aptitude, interest or understanding of electronics/electrical principles.

As most of the work is out of town, you would need to be willing to live away from home during the week on a semi-regular basis.

Certain parts of the job can be physical and candidates therefore need to have a reasonable level of fitness. On appointment the successful person may be required to undergo a medical examination including drug & alcohol test.
