Detail information about job Bioprocess Engineer. Terms and conditions vacancy

This post has been created following the successful HEFCE Catalyst Fund and EPSRC Impact Acceleration Award grant projects at the UCL Department of Biochemical Engineering on the industrial translation of academic research, key among them is a bioprocess technology device called ‘kompAs’. This device is a primary enabler in the ultra scale-down approach in bioprocess development during the early stage biomanufacturing studies which are needed to define scaleable and cost-effective manufacturing routes. The Department is one of the leading international centres for bioprocess research. It has excellent research facilities including a full-scale £25m bioprocessing pilot plant. The post holder will support the department in the further development and commercialisation of ultra scale-down devices. They will work alongside the post-doctoral research entrepreneurs in the technology transfer of kompAsTM. These are exciting opportunities for entrepreneurial individuals keen to pursue a range of industry-focused projects with biomanufacturing companies and SMEs. The post holder will be responsible for establishing, undertaking and reporting on projects hence team-working and excellent communication skills will be essential. They are expected to develop themselves in the area of academic product commercialisation and product management, develop their technical leadership in ultra scale-down bioprocess technologies, specifically on kompAsTM applications.

This post is funded for 12 months in the first instance.

Candidates must hold a degree in a relevant discipline (Biochemical or Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology etc), exhibit an independent and enterprising approach and possess experience of working collaboratively with companies. Applicants would ideally have practical experience in one or more of the following areas: laboratory automation, ultra scale-down technologies, single-use technologies, bioprocess scale-up/scale-down.
