Detail information about job Head of Institute of Life and Human Sciences. Terms and conditions vacancy

The University of Liverpool, which is ranked in the top 1% of higher education institutions in the world, is an institution with global reach whose activities are rooted in world-leading research and teaching excellence and reflect the dynamics of the knowledge economy. The University is now looking to appoint the Head of the Institute of Life and Human Sciences.

The main focus of the Institute and its two constituent schools (School of Life Sciences and School of Psychology) is the delivery of high-quality, research-led curricula to over 2,500 students, with learning and teaching activities which maximise student opportunities and experience. The Institute provides students with excellent learning opportunities through a wide range of specialist undergraduate and taught postgraduate (PGT) degrees, and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities. The recent integration of the School of Life Sciences and the School of Psychology provides a stimulating and enriching environment for both staff and students, allowing the Institute to operate collegially and, through the shared management structure, coordinate and optimise investment in staffing, teaching developments, and facilities in both Schools.

The Head of the Institute of Life and Human Sciences will play a vital role in the delivery of the pedagogical strategic agenda for the Faculty and University as a whole. They will work in partnership with the Institute Manager and Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) to provide leadership and management at a business delivery level within the Institute, in support of the University’s strategic plan (Strategy 2026) and wider ambitions. In order to deliver this, the Head of Institute will take responsibility for strategic change and development within the Institute, identifying future needs and direction, and leading the Institute’s Management Team. The University is therefore seeking an individual with demonstrated leadership experience within Life Sciences and/or Psychology at a business and planning level in a research-led University.

Salary will be commensurate with the appointee’s accomplishments, potential, and the academic rank of the appointment. Informal enquiries regarding the post should be directed to the University’s appointed advisors, Perrett Laver (online at www.perrettlaver.com/candidates), quoting reference number 2912, or by contacting Dr Urvashi Ramphul (e: [email protected] or t: +44 (0) 20 7340 6280).

The deadline for applications for this position is Friday 13th October 2017.

Applications will be considered by the Selection Committee and shortlisted candidates will subsequently be invited to visit the campus. Prior to interview, applicants will be invited to visit the University, meet with a range of Faculty members, and observe the campus facilities; however, informal visits to the University and discussion of the post by any interested candidates are also welcome and encouraged.

Formal interviews and presentations will subsequently take place on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th January 2018, at which point the selection of the preferred candidate will take place.
