The Policy Research Unit in Cancer Awareness, Screening and Early Diagnosis (PRU) carries out a major programme of research into earlier diagnosis of cancer. In the years 2016-17, the PRU is carrying out a randomised trial of a mailed cancer awareness intervention in subjects who have disengaged with primary care and who are at risk of late stage cancer.

Applications are invited for an experienced Epidemiologist to provide day-to-day running of this study, and leadership on epidemiological and scientific issues in the study. The work will involve all aspects of the trial, including liaison with general practice centres, day-to-day communication with Clinical Research Network and general practice staff, supervision of a part time data manager to ensure capture of the study data, and analysis and reporting of results. The post reports to the PRU director, and will involve collaboration with PRU investigators in UCL and Exeter, in addition to primary care colleagues.

Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent experience in epidemiology/statistics or a related field, experience in cancer research, good interpersonal skills and good methodological skills in epidemiologic research.
