This is an exciting opportunity to bring your experience in managing clinical trials to deliver research in a unique and challenging setting, and join an innovative and independent Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) to drive forward our adult and paediatric critical care research portfolio.
The ICNARC CTU (UKCRC fully registered) has a strong reputation for designing and conducting high quality research to improve the care and outcomes of critically ill patients. This includes successful publication in high impact journals.
The successful candidate will lead on managing a portfolio of national and international research studies. They will be expected to oversee the conduct, performance and delivery of clinical trials and to supervise the staff working on them. They will be expected to ensure trials are delivered to high quality standards, regulatory requirements and meet trial objectives and deadlines.
Candidates must be willing to work flexibly in terms of hours, duties and as a team member. Candidate must also be able to travel within the UK as required for study site training, support and monitoring.
Candidates must have a degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant subject. They must have extensive experience and understanding of the principles of research methodology, and of successfully managing and co-ordinating previous trials in the NHS.
Candidates must have extensive knowledge of the ethical and regulatory issues for research studies. They should have experience of supervising or managing junior colleagues within a team environment, with the ability to provide support and delegate effectively.
The successful candidate will need to have excellent team working and organisational skills together with the ability to relate to and communicate clearly, sensitively and effectively with people from a variety of professional and personal backgrounds.
