Working as a Criminologist in the Department of Social Sciences, you will be actively involved in research, teaching, and enterprise activity that reflect the multi-disciplinary nature of the Department.  Social Sciences at Northumbria University draws together the disciplines of Criminology, Sociology, International Relations, International Development, Journalism, Communication and Media. The department has a vibrant research community very strong teaching and learning culture (with five of the programs aligned to the department achieving 100% in the 2016 NSS), Strong recruitment of undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as a vibrant research community.

Applications are invited from all areas of criminology, but we specifically welcome candidates with expertise in research methods and / or critical criminology, who challenge the traditional understandings of crime and criminal justice and whose research focuses upon contemporary forms of criminal behavior such as on-line crime, and those who situate their work in a global and / or comparative context.  As a key member of the criminology team you will be responsible for the development, organisation and delivery of curriculum content, within undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of the department. You will also contribute to the strong research agenda of the Department, through research activity and engaging in relevant collaborative research networks and bidding activity.
