The Department of Political Science invites applicants for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in the fall semester 2018.  Ph.D. in hand is strongly preferred.  ABDs will be considered; however continued employment is subject to completion of the Ph.D. 

Candidates should be well trained in comparative politics or international relations and have area expertise in Irish Politics with a specialization in European Politics, Security Studies, Nationalism, Immigration, Social Movements or Political Economy.  Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate (MA) courses. Successful candidates will be able to contribute to the interdisciplinary work of the Center for Irish Studies and represent the Center externally. The ability to teach undergraduate research methods is required.  Evidence of teaching excellence and promise of a strong record of research and publication are essential.  Broad training in political science is expected. 

Teaching duties include a 3/2 teaching load for the first three years. After a successful Third Year Review, a one-semester sabbatical is available in the fourth year and the 3/2 teaching load is continued for another three years.
