Medical Research Scotland Supporting Returning Researchers

Applications are now invited for up to three Medical Research Scotland Sponsored Daphne Jackson Fellowships in subjects related to medical research and to be held at any Scottish University.

Medical Research Scotland sponsored Daphne Jackson Fellowships are intended for those wishing to return to an area of medical research after a career break of two years or more. The Fellowships are not restricted to a specific discipline, but the research must address a question of relevance to human health which aims to improve the understanding, diagnosis, treatment or prevention of disease. Medical Research Scotland sponsored Daphne Jackson Fellowships are available for up to three years, half time and involve a challenging research project and an individually tailored retraining programme.

To be eligible for a Medical Research Scotland sponsored Daphne Jackson Fellowship, you must at least meet the following criteria:

  • A good first degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) and /or PhD qualification
  • At least three years in research prior to career break
  • A career break of at least two years’ duration taken for family, caring or health reasons
  • Resident in the UK with the right to remain in the UK indefinitely
  • Good command of English (spoken and written)
