Purpose and ObjectivesEMBL is Europe’s flagship research organization for the life sciences – an intergovernmental organization with more than 80 independent research groups covering the spectrum of molecular biology. EMBL is international, innovative and interdisciplinary – its 1600 employees of more than 80 nationalities, operate across five sites near Heidelberg, Hamburg, Grenoble, Rome and Cambridge. The EMBL Site in Grenoble employs 90 people and has a world-wide reputation for research and service activities in structural molecular biology.

Our EMBL Grenoble site is recruiting a Microsoft Windows Engineer (Desktop, Active Directory) to join the site IT service. Initial tasks:

• Re-organize the Active Directory domain
• Implement automation for deployment and remote management of MS Windows and MacOS desktops
• Implement reliable and efficient update and management system for MS Windows desktops
• Implement remote tools for day to day support and diagnostic of MS Windows and MacOS desktops

Recurrent responsibilities and tasks:

• Maintenance and deployment of Windows servers/desktops and MacOS desktops
• Rigorous asset and license management
• First-class IT support for a limited amount of users but with high requirements
• Maintenance and support of video-conference systems
• Participation to the general IT tasks with the rest of IT service.

Qualifications and Experience:Candidates must hold a Bachelor (or equivalent) in Computer Science and at least 2 years of relevant experience in the same line of work. Furthermore, the following is required:

• In-depth Knowledge of Microsoft based Active Directory environments
• Knowledge and experience of automation tools for Microsoft environment
• Experience with at least one central asset management tool

Microsoft certifications are an asset (MSCA/MSCE in relation with Desktop support and AD).

Knowledge and experience of MacOS is welcome but can be acquired during the first year.

Proficient English is required; basic French is desirable.
