The Faculty of Health and Social Care is a thriving academic community offering a full and diverse portfolio of pre and post-qualifying studies for healthcare professionals including nurses, midwives, social workers and art therapists. The Faculty is located in the heart of the city of Chester, but operates throughout Cheshire and the Wirral through a number of satellite campuses working closely with NHS partners.
It provides a supportive and enriching environment for all of its students studying on a broad range of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work courses up to doctoral level. The Faculty employs 130 full-time equivalent (FTE) staff and 40 visiting lecturers providing outstanding higher education and training to over 2,000 students. The Faculty holds many professional and SRB accreditations and has a turnover of over £24m.
The Faculty is committed to the enhancement of practice through an integrated approach to educational provision, practice development and research. All staff in the Faculty promote the ethos of life-long learning and personal development for students within a learner centred approach, using a range of innovative learning and assessment methods. The Faculty actively encourages the development of all staff on both a personal and professional level, within a supportive and forward looking environment.
You will help provide strong academic leadership; through effective strategic and operational planning you will maintain and grow our reputation for high quality courses that meet the professional needs of a wide range of stakeholders. With the ability to motivate, encourage and manage, you will foster excellence in teaching and research, setting ambitious, but achievable goals.
We seek to appoint an experienced academic with an impressive record in one of our main subject areas. You should also have the vision to plan and implement change and the ability to manage resources and finances. You will be a visible leader with the presence to promote the Faculty and to work closely with the Vice-Chancellor and other senior members of staff.
